Judging by the Cover Tuesday

Judging by the Cover Tuesday (3/22)

Judging by the Cover Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Hello Beautiful Book Blog.

Anyone can play along, just do the following:

  1. Search the web for the cutest cover you come across, ideally an unreleased book
  2. Don’t read the synopsis
  3. Try to guess what the book is about
  4. Read the synopsis and see how close you came
  5. Make sure to link Hello Beautiful Book Blog as your host!♥

Post in the comments the link to your own Judging by the Cover Tuesday post or share your cover in the comments below if you do not have a blog. Thanks! 🙂

♥♥♥Judging by the Cover Tuesday, where I score the web for the cutest cover I can find and try to guess what the story is going to be about before reading the blurb. All books are only judged by the cover and are not yet released.

First up we have All the Pretty Faces which is the second installment in the Graveyard Falls series by Rita Herron.

First Impressions: I love this pretty purple/pink color of the book, it really made my eye go to it. As far as the content of the book, I’m thinking this is going to be some type of thriller or mystery. The face is kind of blurred so that reminds me a little of like a disappearance or something. Maybe a murder mystery. Also Graveyard Falls reminds me of a horror film so maybe some horror elements thrown in the book.

Okay, let’s read the blurb.

All the Pretty Faces by Rita Herron

Release date: March 29, 2016

Josie DuKane is on shaky ground. Having narrowly escaped the notorious Bride Killer, she penned a tell-all memoir that dug up a town’s dark past. Now the book is being made into a movie, and Josie must visit the very place that will trigger an avalanche of unwanted memories—Graveyard Falls. On the heels of her arrival, she receives a gruesome photograph of a dead woman with talon marks carved into her face. And worse, Josie just might be the next victim.

Torn between guilt, justice, and revenge, Special Agent Dane Hamrick will do anything to find the man who brutally murdered his sister. When he realizes the recent tragedies in Graveyard Falls bear an uncanny resemblance to her death, he volunteers to spearhead the investigation. But doing so means teaming up with Josie.

Nothing prepares him for the feelings the beautiful, tough woman evokes. As the body count rises and the suspect pool widens, Josie and Dane must put aside their growing attraction to run down the killer who devastated both their lives.

A killer who seems determined to destroy all the pretty faces…

Not too bad! Murder, mystery, thriller. Got it!

I’m feeling pretty good about my guess so I give myself 4/5 hearts! ♥♥♥♥

Alrighty, next up we have the third in The Colors of Madeleine series by Jaclyn Moriarty.

First Impressions: The sky in this cover is so gorgeous! The pinks, gold, and purple tones are so nice! I saw this one from a mile away. As far as the story, the barn and outdoors make me think of a small town or farm, obviously. I’m thinking a romance will be the main theme. Also this umbrella by the title sort of gives me a Mary Poppins vibe, haha! I don’t know why. The title might hint to a woman’s hair. That’s kind of a wild guess, but that’s what comes to mind.

A Tangle of Gold by Jaclyn Moriarty

Release date: March 29, 2016

Cello is in crisis. Princess Ko’s deception of her people has emerged and the Kingdom is outraged; the Jagged Edge Elite have taken control, placing the Princess and two members of the Royal Youth Alliance under arrest and ordering their execution; the King’s attempts to negotiate their release have failed; Color storms are rampant; and nobody has heard the Cello wind blowing in months.

Meanwhile, Madeleine fears she’s about to lose the Kingdom of Cello forever. Plans are in place to bring the remaining Royals home, and after that, all communication between Cello and the World will cease. That means she’ll also lose Elliot, now back in Cello and being held captive by a branch of Hostiles. And there’s nothing he can do to help his friends unless he can escape the Hostile compound.

Worlds apart and with time running out, Madeleine and Elliot find themselves on a collision course to save the Kingdom they love, and maybe even save each other.

Wow, okay, that was a horrible guess! HAHA! The blurb sounds really good. I didn’t get the fantasy portion from the cover. I love fantasy and this sounds like an epic story!

I give myself 0/5 hearts on this one.
