Wicked Wednesday

This Wednesday I’m feeling a little wicked! Mwuhahaha!

So I bring to you the best book villains – or should I say worst book villains. From different genres, but mostly YA since that’s what I read the most of.

10 Best Book Villains

1.) Annie Wilkes

Misery by Stephen King

Genre: Horror

Leave it to Stephen King to create the most wicked and psychotic characters.

2.) Agatha Trunchbull

Matilda by Roald Dahl

Genre: Childrens

Roald Dahl has a super dark side, most of his books don’t end very happily. Trunchbull is the principal from hell.

3.) Dolores Umbridge

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling

Genre: YA/childrens/Middle grade

Why would I choose Umbridge instead of Voldemort? Well, I will tell you with a little anecdote I read a while back that made me realize why I hated Umbridge much more than Voldemort. It’s because she is a “real-life horror” and we can relate to her tyranny much more than Voldemort’s. She is the teacher/boss/corporate decision that we are powerless against. Voldemort is the bad guy in a fairy tale. Umbridge is personal.

4.) Satan

Paradise Lost by John Milton

Genre: Epic Poetry

Because how much more villainous can you get than Satan?

5.) Queen Levana

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Genre: YA/SciFi

She’s one wicked lady and she just can’t seem to be defeated! Charlize Theron is how I picture her to a T.

6.) Nan

Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines

Genre: Romance

I can’t freaking stand her!! She’s my most hated character from ANY romance novel. She ruined the series for me, I just couldn’t go on.

7.) Leah

Dirty Red (Love Me With Lies) by Tarryn Fisher

Genre: Contemporary Romance/Drama

She’s just a terrible person. I wanted to claw her eyes out for some of the manipulative things she did. Team Olivia. #PLN4life

8.) Cersei Lannister

A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin

Genre: Fantasy

She is just seriously a messed up individual. I’m sure you understand why she’s on the list.

9.) Nurse Ratched “Big Nurse”

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey

Genre: Fiction

A heartless tyrant.

10.) Sauron

Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

Genre: Fantasy/Adventure

Evil dude with a thirst for power and control of everything.

Which evil villain would you guys put on the list?
