Judging by the Cover Tuesday

Judging by the Cover Tuesday (3/1)

Judging by the Cover Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Hello Beautiful Book Blog.

Anyone can play along, just do the following:

  1. Search the web for the cutest cover you come across, ideally an unreleased book
  2. Don’t read the synopsis
  3. Try to guess what the book is about
  4. Read the synopsis and see how close you came
  5. Make sure to link Hello Beautiful Book Blog as your host! ♥

Post in the comments the link to your own Judging by the Cover Tuesday post or share your cover in the comments below if you do not have a blog. Thanks! 🙂

♥♥♥Judging by the Cover Tuesday, where I score the web for the cutest cover I can find and try to guess what the story is going to be about before reading the blurb. All books are only judged by the cover and are not yet released.

In this second installment of Judging by the Cover Tuesday we have a cover that is just really cool to look at. When I first glanced at it I didn’t realize that ‘gravity’ was upside down, but could tell something was off. I took another look and saw it. The colors are so vibrant!

First Impressions: I think it is definitely going to be a SciFi. It looks kind of like Earth on the top and the moon in the corner so maybe she is being abducted by aliens? Or she is an alien coming to hide on Earth from some war erupting on her home planet. It feels really otherworldly. I feel like she is trying to escape something.

Okay, so let’s take a look at the blurb so we can see if I got close at all.

The Other Side of Gravity (The Oxygen Series Book 1) by Shelly Crane

Release date: March 15, 2016

Blurb from Amazon:

My name is Maxton and I’m a trader.

I live on a soulless planet where gravity, oxygen, and everything else are sold to the highest bidder on the black market. People are sold on the black market, too. You have to work really hard not to become one of those people. Pay your taxes, keep your friends and family close, and more than anything else—don’t get caught by the Militia. But all the rules changed for me the day I found her.

My name is Sophelia and I’m a stowaway.

I’ve been a slave for almost as long as I can remember. Waiting for the one day, one second, for my proprietor to turn his head so I could run and never look back. Now I’m on the run. And on a planet where no one is on your side and people would turn you in for a good meal or a piece of a silver, being on the run on Landu is the last place you want to be. Until he found me.

I won’t survive without him.

I can’t breathe without her.

Well, about the only thing I got right was it is otherworldly and she is running from something. I didn’t pick up on the romance or dual POV. I love a book written in dual point of view if it is done right, it gives the book an extra edge. The book also sounds like it focuses a lot on the romance, which didn’t seem to jump out at me. It sounds really intriguing though and I’m putting on my TBR right now!

I give myself 1/5 hearts! ♥

I’ve never read anything by Shelly Crane before, but I have her Significance series on my TBR list. I actually had the pleasure of meeting her at UTOPYA con back in 2014. She was such a sweetie and I loved chatting with her.

  1. Wow! This really catches my attention and help cover! It reminds me a little to the movie Upside Down, from Argentine director Juan Solanas, but I want to read it! 😀

    Kisses from Argentina!
